Immediate Dentures in Greensboro, NC
Immediate dentures, also known as same-day dentures, allow you to leave your tooth extraction appointment with a complete smile. Rather than waiting several months for your gums to heal before receiving dentures, these custom restorations are prepared in advance and placed on the same day your natural teeth are removed.
Benefits of Immediate Dentures
- Leave the office with a complete smile on the day of your extractions
- Avoid going weeks or months without teeth
- Protect healing tissues and help reduce swelling
- Begin adjusting to speaking and eating with dentures right away
- Custom designed to provide a natural-looking appearance
The Treatment Process
Your treatment begins with a consultation, digital records, and impressions taken before your extraction appointment. Your dentures are custom fabricated in advance, allowing them to be inserted immediately after your teeth are removed. As your gums heal over the following months, periodic adjustments or relines may be recommended to maintain a comfortable fit.

Recovery and Caring for Immediate Dentures
Because immediate dentures are placed before your gums have fully healed, it’s normal for their fit to change as your mouth recovers. Follow-up appointments allow your prosthodontist to make adjustments and ensure your dentures remain comfortable and functional.
Aftercare Tips
- Monitor extraction sites for normal healing and contact our office if excessive bleeding or swelling occurs.
- Eat soft foods and avoid hard, sticky, or chewy items during the initial healing period.
- Avoid smoking, which can slow healing and increase the risk of complications.
- Clean your dentures and mouth regularly according to your care instructions.
- Wear your dentures as directed, including overnight if recommended during the first stage of healing.
At Carolina Prosthodontic and Implant Center, we provide personalized treatment plans, advanced prosthodontic expertise, and ongoing support throughout your transition to a healthy, confident smile. To learn whether immediate dentures are right for you, call 336-274-5400 to schedule a consultation.
