Conus Prosthesis
A Conus prosthesis is an implant-supported removable denture that combines the stability of dental implants with the convenience of a removable restoration. Secured by four to six dental implants, it provides exceptional retention and chewing function while still allowing for easy daily cleaning.

Who Is a Candidate?
Before determining if this is the right treatment for you, it is important to undergo a thorough evaluation with our office as well as with the oral surgeon who will be placing the implants. During this evaluation and planning process, we will discuss the risks and benefits of the Conus concept as well as other treatment options to determine which will best fit your lifestyle and needs. We will also determine if your anatomy will allow this process to be successful. The Conus concept requires a specific amount of bone for stability, so additional bone grafting procedures are sometimes necessary. In certain cases, we may recommend an alternative procedure if you are not an appropriate candidate for the Conus concept.
We find that the Conus prosthesis an excellent combination of securing your teeth and access for hygiene. It is an excellent option for patients who want to experience a more solid bite than a conventional denture but still be able to remove their teeth for at home cleaning. This option can also be a solution for patients who are concerned about future home care needs, especially if they may need to have a care giver assist with their daily care routine. It also eliminates the pain and worry associated with natural teeth that seem to be in constant need of repair or due restoration to decay, fracture or pain.

Dr. Dino Salvanera is a prosthodontist dedicated to restoring healthy, confident smiles through advanced restorative and implant dentistry. With specialized training in full-mouth rehabilitation, dental implants, dentures, and highly aesthetic restorations, he is passionate about helping patients regain both function and confidence with personalized treatment plans.
After earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Salvanera completed advanced specialty training and earned a Master of Science in Prosthodontics from the University of North Carolina Adams School of Dentistry. His education focused on the diagnosis and treatment of complex restorative cases, digital dentistry, implant planning, and multidisciplinary care.
Dr. Salvanera has extensive experience in prosthetic and implant dentistry, including full-arch implant rehabilitation, comprehensive reconstructive treatment, cosmetic dentistry, and removable prosthetics. He combines both digital and traditional techniques to create precise, natural-looking restorations tailored to each patient’s unique needs.
Committed to lifelong learning and excellence, Dr. Salvanera has presented clinical research at the American College of Prosthodontists Annual Session and has received the American College of Prosthodontists Predoctoral Student Prosthodontic Achievement Award in recognition of his dedication and clinical accomplishments. He remains actively involved in several professional organizations, including the American College of Prosthodontists and the American Dental Association.
Outside the office, Dr. Salvanera is passionate about serving his community. Throughout his career, he has volunteered with numerous outreach programs, providing dental care to underserved populations, participating in Missions of Mercy clinics, and helping fabricate dentures for patients in need during National Prosthodontics Awareness Week.
Dr. Salvanera believes that every patient deserves individualized care built on trust, education, and open communication. His goal is to deliver comfortable, long-lasting treatment that improves oral health while creating beautiful, functional smiles that patients can enjoy for years to come.
With a deep commitment to the art and science of prosthodontics, Dr. Keblawi brings a wealth of experience and passion to our office. Her prosthodontic journey started at the State University of New York at Buffalo where she completed her Advanced Training in Prosthodontics and earned a Master’s degree in Oral Sciences, followed by an implant fellowship: specializing in surgical and restorative implant prosthodontics.
During her rewarding 12-year tenure in Buffalo, Dr. Keblawi demonstrated a strong commitment to education and advancement in the field of prosthodontics. She had served as a Clinical Associate Professor, Section Head and Discipline Monitor for Fixed Prosthodontics and Associate Faculty of the graduate school. She had directed didactic and clinical courses and was extensively involved in clinical instruction in undergraduate and graduate prosthodontic clinics. Her role as Assistant Dean for Diversity and Inclusion, speaks volumes about her commitment to a comprehensive and inclusive approach to dental care.
She is a fellow of the American Collage of Prosthodontics, a Member of the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics and National Dental Honor Society. Her exceptional dedication to educating the next generation of dental professionals has awarded her multiple prestigious teaching awards.
As a true perfectionist by nature, Dr. Keblawi finds profound gratification in the meticulous artistry of prosthodontics. She focuses on restoring her patients’ smiles and oral function while crafting personalized maintenance regimens to ensure lasting results. Her journey brought her to North Carolina in the summer of 2021 when her husband joined the team at Duke Children’s Hospital. In her free time, Dr. Keblawi enjoys reading, hiking, and traveling with her husband and three boys.
How the Conus Procedure Works
The ‘Conus’ prosthesis is defined by the precision 5 degree cone shaped connectors that are placed on the implants. A matching cap is placed inside the denture that forms a press fit with the Conus abutment. This results in exceptional retention while still allowing removal.
Your new denture is designed as a first step and is used to determine the best placement for the implants. Once the implants are placed, you will wear this conventional denture while the implants integrate with the bone to provide a solid foundation.
The final step is fabrication of the custom Conus abutments and a definitive Conus denture with specific design features to provide exceptional function, durability, and esthetics.
